Hi, I'm Shane (they/them).
I'm a violinist, pianist and singer, and I was so lucky to grow up in a family of musicians, and so music has always been an incredibly important part of my life.
I'm building on the huge vinyl collection my mum passed onto me. Current favourites are Kate Bush and Wolf Alice.
My partner (VERY soon to be wife!) and I have a gorgeous springer spaniel, Dougie, and a very naughty rescue kitten, Iassy. We have a super creative home filled with houseplants, which Iassy still believes are bespoke cat toys.
I LOVE weddings. I have big emotions lol and I throw myself right into the atmosphere of every wedding I get to play at. If you cry I will cry. Even if you don't cry I might also cry.
I am a super proud and active member of the LGBTQ+ community. I strive to always be open-minded and to learn more about other queer people and their experiences so that I can always do better at uplifting each other. When I meet new people I always introduce myself with pronouns as well as names to make sure we all address each other in an affirming way and without assigning heteronormative meaning to our appearances. I care really deeply about LGBTQ+ issues and the scary restrictions that are unfortunately being placed on our rights across the world at the moment. I think it is so important that queer people can be a safe place for each other when we might need to talk or just be in a supportive place. I also take part in as many protests as I can. I am so lucky to be a member of my local drag community which organises lots of T4T performances and other fundraising events. These are a really great example of how to be a strong trans ally! Finally, in my everyday life I try to educate others in a kind and non-judgemental way about how they can be stronger and more active allies.
I am also actively inclusive of differently abled bodies and neurodiverse minds!
